Ahsoka Scarf

The colors & design of this crochet scarf are based on the Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano, who became popular in the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series, and recently made her live-action debut on The Mandalorian (next, she will be getting her own series, which I absolutely could not be more excited for!) During the pandemic, I watched Clone Wars and Rebels for the first (and second... and third...) time, and Ahsoka quickly became one of my favorite characters in anything ever, so I am here for all things Ahsoka (by the way, if anyone's wondering, my husband got me these Ahsoka earrings from GEEKablyCUTE on Etsy and I'm in love with them).

This design was inspired by a scarf I saw on Etsy by HandPins, which unfortunately looks like it's not available anymore, but maybe they'll make more in the future! I loved how it looked like a normal, nice scarf, but many Star Wars fans would see it and think of Ahsoka.

I loved this design and wanted to make something similar, but with a little bit of my own spin on it. For mine, I used different stitches with a more open weave, and I added long tails that would hang down on either side, to evoke Ahsoka's lekku. Read on for more information on how I made it!

The Making Of:

These are the yarns I used:

The Freesia yarn is a bit thicker than the Soft yarn, which made for a little bit of warbliness in the edges, but I couldn't find just the right color in the Soft yarn or one of the same weight. It's not perfect, but it doesn't bother me too much. I like making things with several different textures.

I based this project off of this Crochet Triangle Shawl Pattern for the basic structure. I started from the middle with the orange section, then worked outward adding the white & blue stripes until I had it the size I wanted.

Once I had the main triangle shawl part finished, I built the extended parts onto each corner. This took some trial and error, and didn't come out perfect, but it pretty much achieved what I was going for.

And that's it! This was really fun to make, came together pretty quickly, and can be worn in a number of different ways. It may seem unassuming, but I like to think that the other Ahsoka fans out there would see it and know what's up :)
